Our CLOSE FIT means there is a unique way to put on and take off a Davida helmet. Because the helmet width is narrower at the jaw than at the crown you must 'open' the helmet to allow the widest part of your head through the narrowest part of the helmet.
Because of this unique ergonomic design you may find the Davida helmet unusually snug and it may take you a few goes to get the helmet on and off correctly. It's a technique you will quickly pick up and will also greatly appreciate once you've enjoyed the incredibly quiet ride it delivers, not to mention the elimination of any lift at speed.
1. Firmly pull the D rings and chin strap away from each other to open the helmet aperture. Pull with some strength until the shell flexes slightly and the padding bends outwards. Don't worry you can't damage the helmet.
2. It's important to maintain a good tension on the straps all the time to keep the helmet aperture open whilst putting the helmet on.
3. Keeping the aperture open, roll the helmet onto your head so your ears remain flat against your head.
4. Do not release the tension on the straps until the helmet is fully on your head.
5. If you have bent your ears putting the helmet on, create a gap between the helmet and ears by pulling firmly on one strap. Use your other hand, with palm facing the cheek, to flatten your ear against your head. If required, repeat with the other strap to flatten your other ear.
6. If required, rotate the helmet to ensure the front edge of the helmet sits just above the eyebrows.
1. Use the straps again to keep the helmet pulled apart making sure the shell flexes slightly and padding bends outwards.
2. Maintaining a good tension again on the straps, roll the helmet forwards off your head.

You want to achieve a snug fit, which may feel unusual at first, but it is very important however the helmet is not too tight.
The helmet should not create any uncomfortable pressure points on your ears, nor pinch at the jaw or around the forehead.
