Infamous Round The World Trip

It’s a pleasure to report that that the infamous Round the World Trip ”KCCD09 -The Dumb Way Round” will be represented at Cycle World’s International Motorcycle Show at the Javits Convention Center in New York,  January 22-24, 2010.

The witless and fearless Norwegians Klaus Ulvestad and Tormod Amlien are currently halfway through circumnavigating the world on two Nimbus motorcycles with sidecars, made in 1937 and 1938.  The travels so far have covered Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, South Korea, Canada and USA.  The trip will continue from New York down to Argentina, over to South Africa and back home to Norway via East coast Africa. Highlights for the appearance at the Motorcycle Show will be:

A Slideshow about the trip so far, from Norway to USA, covering 13 countries, two broken frames and front forks, 6 head gaskets, countless other breakdowns, too many liters of vodka and other trivialities you face when travelling the world on 70 year old motorcycles.  The slideshows will be presented Friday, 1/22 – 1:00pm, Saturday, 1/23 – 10:00am, and Sunday, 1/24 – 4:00pm at the Hub Seminar Stage.

View the ultimate touring machine for those who love to wrench in remote desserts and completely disregard comfort on a motorcycle:   the one and only 1937 model Nimbus that has been driven across the entire Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia over to the states.  The bike was covered in authentic American road salt from crossing the northern states in December.  It is a living witness of severe abuse of a classic bike for extreme touring.
