As fans of Classic Racing, Davida took the opportunity to take some historic images of some of the Classic Bike Racers at the event with our lids. So special thanks to;  Ian Bain racing his CS1 Norton, Joppi racing his Manx Norton, Sam Rhodes racing his Manx Norton, and Sammy Miller parading on his V8 Guzzi, to name just a few racers who joined in with the Davida photoshoot.

We also spotted John Bottomley from Brooklands Museum in bespoke Davida Jet which we created for him a few years ago. Johns design is based on the shape of the Brooklands Circuit. John was out on a machine known as a Triumph ‘Wicksteed’. It is a  faithful replica, created by Titch Allen and his son Roger, in 1988 and confirmed by Ivan Wicksteed when he rode it, in 1988, at Brooklands. It is a 1938 496cc Triumph Speed Twin fitted with an Arnott Supercharger, the original machine  set the outright 500cc lap record at Brooklands on the 8th October 1938 at 118.02 mph. With the track closing in 1939 this record will never be broken. It is currently part of  The Dick Shepherd Triumph Motorcycle Factory Collection and is on display in Brooklands Museum.

The major difference and great appeal of this unique CRMC event at Donington Park is that it aims to recreate 1950’s & 1960’s racing, both for the racers and spectators alike. The free and relaxed spectator access to all areas, together with the mind blowing sound of the classic racing bikes on open megas made this weekend utterly exciting. Our congratulations and thanks must go to everyone who organised this event at Donington Park and we strongly urge you to go next year. If you can’t wait that long, you can see many of these Classic Racers and hear their machines at The Goodwood Revival on 13-15th September 2013.
